Sustaining our Earth: Our Commitment to Eco-Friendly Practices

I was shocked to hear that, a couple of years ago, David Attenborough stated that us humans are currently using the resources of 1.5 earths every year! We’re clearly living in a very unsustainable way, which is why we want to incorporate as many sustainable practices as possible into imployable.

April 22nd marks Earth Day, so it’s crucial for us to reflect on our impact on the planet and the steps we can take to minimise our ecological footprint.

At imployable we are dedicated to incorporating sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations. So, I wanted to use this day to tell you about how we’re trying to make a difference:

Plastic Free Plymouth Partnership

We’re proud to be part of Plastic Free Plymouth, a community initiative aimed at reducing single-use plastic waste in our local area. By minimising plastic usage and promoting eco-friendly alternatives, we’re contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment for generations to come.

Embracing Paperless Operations

At imployable, we’ve embraced a paper-free philosophy. We prioritise digital-first approaches for our invoices, contracts, and reports, significantly reducing our paper consumption and minimising our environmental impact.

Bamboo Digital Business Cards

In our efforts to reduce waste, we’ve replaced traditional paper business cards with bamboo digital business cards. These eco-friendly alternatives not only save trees but also eliminate the need for excess printing and disposal of paper cards.

Comprehensive Recycling Program

We believe in the importance of responsible waste management. That’s why we’ve implemented a comprehensive recycling program that includes recycling everything from paper and plastics to batteries. By diverting waste from landfills, we’re doing our part to conserve resources and protect the planet.

Remote Work and Reduced Office Hours

To reduce fuel consumption and minimise carbon emissions, our team works from home two days a week. Additionally, we’ve adopted a four-day work-week, which not only improves work-life balance but also reduces energy consumption associated with office operations, such as lighting, heating, and electronic devices.

Minimalistic Website Design

In line with our commitment to sustainability, we’ve streamlined our website by reducing the number of pictures and videos. By optimising content and minimising multimedia elements, we’re lowering our website’s carbon footprint and enhancing its efficiency. Here is a great article to help you reduce your websites carbon footprint: https://yoast.com/carbon-footprint-of-website/

As we celebrate Earth Day, let’s remember that small changes can make a big difference in preserving our planet. We’re dedicated to implementing eco-friendly practices that prioritise environmental sustainability.
